The Oak Veil is a 2-storey landed house nestled within Eden Eco Sanctuary, one of Selangor's most verdant residential enclaves. The homeowners — a young professional couple — came to us with a clear vision: a home that breathes, one that honours the surrounding greenery without sacrificing the warmth and personality of a well-lived-in space.
Our approach centred on Tropical Modern design — a Malaysian-rooted aesthetic that pairs natural timber grain and rattan textures with clean architectural forms and restrained colour. Every room was designed to draw the eye outward while creating intimate, functional zones within.
From the double-volume foyer entrance to the master suite's sculptural headboard wall, The Oak Veil is a testament to how considered material choices and layered lighting can transform a house into a sanctuary.
The open-plan living and dining area is the social heart of The Oak Veil. We stripped away visual clutter and let warm American white oak timber — used across flooring, shelving and furniture — carry the room's personality.
Concealed ambient lighting runs along ceiling coffers, casting a golden wash at dusk that mirrors the filtered afternoon light streaming through the full-height louvred panels. A custom three-seater sofa in warm oatmeal linen anchors the seating zone, paired with a solid oak coffee table crafted by a local Selangor workshop.
The foyer at The Oak Veil was designed as a decompression space — a moment between the outside world and the home within. A fluted timber panel wall runs floor to ceiling, framing a sculptural console and a single statement pendant light.
Underfoot, large-format porcelain tiles in warm ivory create a seamless flow into the living area. Subtle recessed niches on either side of the entrance allow the homeowners to display cherished objects without cluttering the clean architectural lines.
The master bedroom is a study in calm. A full-width upholstered headboard wall in dusty sage fabric creates a soft focal point, while low-profile platform bed joinery keeps the spatial proportions grounded and serene.
Bedside niches are recessed into the headboard wall itself — eliminating the need for floating tables and giving the room an unusually uncluttered, hotel-suite quality. Warm accent lighting behind the headboard casts a diffused glow that is perfect for winding down.
Every material in The Oak Veil was chosen for its tactile quality and how it interacts with natural light. The result is a cohesive palette that feels effortlessly warm from morning through evening.
